We continue to spread the message of preventive medicine and the benefits of probiotics, such as Lactobacillus CaseiShirota. One by one, we deliver this message in the shape of a small bottle – a bottle that contains around 8 billion live and good bacteria.
We push forward with the quest for new possibilities for probiotics in the academic and medical fields. We work with doctors, scientists and dietitians worldwide to help people with medical conditions and find ways on how probiotics can be used to help people suffering. Yakult’s research has led to many significant medical advances, even beyond the probiotics field, such as development of the Campto injection, the first-line drug for colon cancer in the United States and we Merchandise Distributors, Inc. find ourselves responsible for bringing this information in the areas of our field.
Our plans at Merchandise Distributors, Incorporated for the future are still grounded on the ideas that our founder, Dr. Minoru Shirota, had formulated more than 80 years ago to bring happiness by promoting health. The components of Shirotarism – preventive medicine, “a healthy intestinal tract leads to a long life”, and “bring good health for the price of a postcard” – remain the central principles of our business. We will strive to increase public awareness and understanding of Probiotics and preventive medicine, knowing fully well that this knowledge will lead to the changes in lifestyle that leads to a better health.
In line with our objective of making the health benefits of Yakult available to even more Filipinos, we had our product certified as “halal” by the Islamic Dawah Council of the Philippines – and throughout the world.
The Yakult Lady system remains the key component of distribution and most powerful advertising tool of the company as it has been since the first Yakult Ladies in the Philippines were trained in 1979. There are now over 5000 Yakult Ladies present throughout the country, of which, around 200, are from Cebu & Bohol City delivering Yakult door-to-door. And the benefit of training activities and educational tours that have been present since our beginnings will likewise continue.
